Retailers on the Frontline: Meet Kut

Here at Payzone, we’re very proud of our retailers, as many have gone above and beyond to help their vulnerable customers.

That’s why we’ve launched our brand new Retailers on the Frontline Awards, as voted for by customers. Our customers have been busy giving us some great feedback through the survey at the bottom of their Payzone receipts. So we’ve been visiting the nominated retailers to say thank you in person, and present them with a gift voucher as a small token of
our appreciation.

We also thought it was a great opportunity to share some of the fantastic work that Payzone retailers have been doing within their communities.

Meet Kut Nabarajah

In the large historic market town of Reading on Basingstoke Road is JK Stores, a well-stocked convenience store selling a variety of snacks, drinks newspapers, magazines, cigarettes and confectionery, as well as a selection of groceries. Kut has been running the shop and servicing the local community for 21 years.

So, what has Kut been doing since the outbreak of coronavirus?

Since the pandemic began, Kut has kept his store running, as usual. Many of his customers are from a housing estate nearby and go to the store several times a week to pick up groceries and pay the bills. Kut knew that if the store were to close, many people in the area would be left with
nowhere to go. He has worked hard to stay open to make sure that the community can still access the services they need. He’s a small dose of normality during these uncertain times.

Over the last few months, Kut has noticed that there are lots of new faces coming into the store to top-up their gas and electricity cards, as their normal store has closed due to the virus.

“I love this family-friendly run store.” Commented one happy customer.

“I’m so pleased I can top-up my gas and electricity here. My usual store closed and I was having such a nightmare finding a store nearby that could do the transaction. So, I will be sticking with JK Stores from now on.”

“I am very happy to be recognised by Payzone for my work.” Said Kut. “It’s a really nice surprise and I am pleased to be part of the Payzone family.”
