How do I pay my Scottish Power bill?

Gas & Electricity top-ups

You can top up your ScottishPower smart PAYG meter at a Payzone or Post Office store. Other bill payments pre-pay gas and electricity top ups can be made over the counter at Post Offices, via direct debit, directly through ScottishPower or by making payments over the phone or online.

Prepayment Smart Meter Top Up

To top up your prepayment smart meter with ScottishPower, take your Smart PAYG card to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch. All Post Offices and Payzone stores accept cash payments, while debit and credit card payments can be taken at the discretion of the Payzone retailer.

Direct Debit

You can pay your ScottishPower energy bill by direct debit. You can pay in fixed monthly payments so the same amount is paid each month, or opt for variable monthly payments. Variable monthly payments are determined by the amount of energy that you use. 

Telephone Payments

To pay your ScottishPower energy bill over the phone, call the 24-hour automated payment line on 0800 001 5115. They accept all major MasterCards and Visa Cards. 

Online Payments

You can pay your ScottishPower smart meter energy bill online via the ScottishPower app, the ScottishPower website or your internet banking app.

To pay your bill via the app, download the ‘YourEnergy’ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and follow the account setup instructions. You can make instant payments, submit meter readings, set up reminders and more.

To pay your bill via the ScottishPower website, access the account login area here. The secure, web-based payment service will take your online payment.

To pay your bill via your internet banking app, make a bank transfer to ScottishPower using their Sort Code: 830706 and Account Number: 00674713 and quote your 11 digit ScottishPower Account Number. 

If you have a prepaid meter, online payments are only available to pay as you go customers with a smart meter. 

How do I get a new ScottishPower (gas/electric) top up card for my smart meter?

Before you collect a new key, you need to contact ScottishPower on 0800 027 0072 for a reference number. Then, visit your nearest Payzone SuperAgent, who will provide you with a new card. 

If you have a smart meter and need a new replacement energy card, you can order through your online account. Sign in and select 'Manage account' for the fuel that needs a replacement card. Then click on 'Order a new payment card' in the 'Your payments' section. Once you have confirmed your name and delivery address click 'Submit your details.' It will take ten working days to get to you.

Where can I top up my ScottishPower prepayment smart meter?

You can top up your ScottishPower prepayment smart meter at any Payzone store or Post Office branch. There are over 24,000 Payzone stores and Post Office branches across the UK. Use our Store Locator to find your nearest Payzone retailer or Post Office.

How do I top up my ScottishPower smart meter?

You can top up your pay-as-you-go smart meter at any Payzone store or Post Office branch. To top up, simply hand your card to the shop attendant and pay for the required amount. You can top up any amount,  with £1 being the minimum payment for both gas and electricity. 

How do I top up my electricity with a ScottishPower smart meter?

There are three different ways you can top up your electricity through a ScottishPower smart meter; over the counter, online or over the phone.

At a Payzone Store 

For customers with a prepayment smart meter, you can top up your electricity over the counter at over 24,000 Payzone stores and Post Office branches. Take your ScottishPower Smart PAYG card to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch and top up over the counter with cash. You can top up any amount from £1 to £49 in a single transaction. 

At a Post Office

For customers with a non-smart pre-pay meter, you can top up your electricity meter over the counter at 11,500 Post Offices. Take your electricity key or your gas card to your nearest Post Office and top up over the counter with cash. Once you have topped up your ScottishPower electricity key, or ScottishPower gas Card put it into your meter. The credit will transfer to your meter automatically.

Online

To top up your electricity on your ScottishPower smart meter online, log in to your ScottishPower online account and click the ‘Top Up Online’ tab. If you cannot remember your ScottishPower online account details, you can still complete your ScottishPower smart meter top up online as a guest using your Smart Card Number. 

Electricity top ups can be completed via the ScottishPower app. You can download it through the App Store or Google Play.

Telephone

To top up your electricity on a ScottishPower smart meter over the phone, call 0800 001 5115. You will need your customer reference number and your debit or credit card details. 

How do I top up my ScottishPower meter without a card?

If you are a customer with a ScottishPower prepayment smart meter, you can top up without a gas card or electricity key online, by phone or by visiting your local Payzone store or Post Office.

If you do not have a ScottishPower card for your gas and electricity, you can access the barcodes for both of these by downloading the YourEnergy app. Take your phone and the relevant barcode to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch. 

You can top up without a card online, directly through the ScottishPower YourEnergy app or over the phone on 0800 001 5115. You can also order a replacement card if you wish.

Why is my ScottishPower top up card not working?

If your ScottishPower top up card is not working, there could be a problem with either your meter or your card. First, check your meter for error messages. If there are no error messages, it is most likely to be a problem with your ScottishPower energy card. 

What can I do if I’ve lost my gas / electric key?

If you have lost your electricity key contact our pay-as-you-go team. They will give you a reference number. 

Alternatively, ScottishPower can order a replacement card for your smart meter online or over the phone and we can post you a new one.

How do I put emergency credit on my smart meter?

All of our prepayment meters have £5 of emergency credit which can be used if you are unable to top up. You will need to repay this when you next top up your card.

What is the minimum amount you can put on a ScottishPower Card?

The minimum amount you can put on a ScottishPower energy card is £1, up to a maximum of £49 in a single transaction. Your electricity meter will hold up to £249 and gas meters hold a maximum of £999.

By Phone

To let ScottishPower know that you are changing address online, log in to My Account via the ScottishPower website and navigate to the ‘Moving Home’ section. From here, you will either be able to change your address or be contacted by a member of the ScottishPower Customer Support team.

However, customer support is only available Mon-Fri 5pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm.

Who qualifies for ScottishPower Warm Home Discount?

There are two ways you can qualify for the Warm Home Discount scheme. 

If you are a pensioner who receives the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount. 

Or, if you are on a low-income and receive income support, income-related employment and support allowance (ESA) or income-based job seeker’s allowance, you may also be eligible. However, your benefit must include one of the following:

  • Child element for children aged 5, or under
  • Disabled child element
  • A disability or pensioner premium
