Retailers on the Frontline: Meet Chin

Here at Payzone, we’re very proud of our retailers, as many have gone above and beyond to help their vulnerable customers.

That’s why we’ve launched our brand new Retailers on the Frontline Awards. We’ve been visiting some of our retailers to say thank you in person, and present them with a gift voucher as a small token of our appreciation.

We also thought it was a great opportunity to share some of the fantastic work that Payzone retailers have been doing within their communities.

Meet Chin

Chintal Patel, best known as Chin, has been running Nisa Local on Manchester Road in Rochdale for four years now. Chin and his family work across twelve different stores in the area, with three of them operating as a Post Office. Chin has always provided excellent service to his customers. The store was recommended by a customer who commented, “fantastic service from start to finish.”

So, what has Chin been doing since the outbreak of Coronavirus?

As Coronavirus took hold in the UK, Chin continued to provide his customers with the level of service to which they have become accustomed. The store has been busy, as many people in the area visit to top-up their British Gas cards and keys. While social distancing measures have meant that only five customers can enter the store at a time, Chin and his staff have been working hard to serve customers efficiently to reduce waiting times.

Before the pandemic, Chin had made some improvements to the store, which included extending the frozen food and grocery areas. It has proved popular with his customers, especially over the last few months. Customers now have more products to choose from and can shop for what they need while paying their bills with Payzone.

“Since British Gas joined Payzone in January, I’ve noticed a big increase in the number of customers who visit the store.” Said Chin. “Certainly since the outbreak of COVID I’ve realised how much my customers rely on the service.”
