Think about a car: in order for it to work, it needs fuel. Without it, you won’t be able to drive it anywhere.
Similarly, as a human, you need food to help give you energy to function. And choosing the right stuff to put in your body is key.
Whilst a bag of sweets may give you a nice sugar rush for 10 minutes, it’s fair to say that there are better things for you to snack on when you get those 11am cravings!
So, what’s the best food to help you be more productive?
Let’s start off with one of the best brain foods. A handful of nuts in the morning is a perfect way to boost productivity.
But what makes nuts so good is that they contain magnesium, which is known to help with fatigue. This is particularly useful if you had a bad night’s sleep.
Go down to your nearest supermarket and have a look at what there is. Walnuts, almonds and cashews are all delicious and can help give you the morning boost you may need.
This is still probably the trendiest food on the planet right now and with good reason.
Avocados are full of healthy fats, and their low level of Omega 3s are known to help improve your mood - very useful if you’re having a busy and demanding day. Read more about it here.
If you’re like us, you may have a bit of a sweet tooth.
Dark chocolate is a great way to fix a sweet craving and it actually has lots of nutrients in it and is a great source of antioxidants.
It contains magnesium and a small amount caffeine, which are a great way to get a quick energy boost.
In fact, a study has found that eating a piece of dark chocolate could activate your brain in a way that helps increase your levels of attention.
Take a couple of squares in the afternoon if you’re lagging. The higher the cocoa content, the better.
When it comes to brain food, you really don’t get much better than berries. Why? Well they’re packed with tons of vitamins and minerals. And they’re also rich in productivity boosting antioxidants, which are also great for cognitive functionality. The darker the berries, the better.
A single banana can give you the daily amount of glucose that your body needs. So if you do get those 11am cravings, then this is the perfect way to keep hunger at bay till lunchtime.
Luckily for all the millions of coffee lovers out there, your favourite cup of brew can be good for you (in moderation of course!)
It’s caffeine content helps with concentration, alertness and can even improve mood - which is all very good for productivity.
A couple of cups might be good for you but if you have too many, you might end up feeling restless and unable to fall asleep later. So, don’t go overboard and try not to drink it in the evenings.
