6 inspirational songs for business owners

Business Growth

Business owners and entrepreneurs are celebrated throughout all genres of music. So it’s not a bad idea to pop one of these songs on your Spotify and get motivated to grow your future business empire.

Eminem - Lose yourself

A great way to start this off. A business will always face a moment that can be make or break it. Maybe you have a meeting with potential investors who needs convincing before financing your business? Or maybe you’re negotiating with a potentially lucrative partner and things are getting tense?

In truth, it could be numerous scenarios that fall into the category of highly pressured situations. When things are like this, it’s all about not losing your focus and staying composed.

We think Eminem’s classic from 2003 will give you that energy not to give up or give in, even when things are on a knife edge.

As Marshall said “If you had one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you’ve ever wanted, in one moment. Would you capture it or just let it slip”. Powerful stuff indeed.

Destiny's child - Independent women

Back in the early 00s, there was Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle, otherwise known as Destiny’s Child, who were the biggest female act in the world at the time

Their global smash was released 18 years ago, and championed the cause of women who were out working for themselves, not depending on the pockets of a rich man.

This is what made this song so iconic. And in truth, it’s message is as strong today as it was all those years ago.

If you are a female entrepreneur striving for success and working hard, this song will make you feel 10 ft tall.

All together now “All the women who are independent, throw your hands up at me!”

Bon Jovi - It’s my life

This song will give you that energy boost you need, even at the worst of times.

Forget an espresso shot, this will really do the trick on days when you just feel a bit ‘meh’. The lyrics are so appropriate for what it means to run a business. It’s your life, you are the driver of your own destiny and the success of your business.

This is an incredibly powerful message and one you should remember if you’re ever feeling lazy or glued to your bed.

Pink Floyd - Money

This is truly the ultimate look at our our obsession with going after that ‘moolah’.

The song strikes a positive and negative chord. It talks about how money can be used to to get a good job and be secure. But it also talks about how money can lead to a life of crime, so also a tad negative too.

In many ways this song is a bit of a catch 22. It should reinforce to you that success is important, but it shouldn’t mean breaking the rules or doing anything illegal.

Drake - Started from the bottom

Drake released this track in 2013, and it’s definitely one of his most popular.

The song tells Drake’s story of barely being able to make ends meet as a dead end rapper, living in his mum’s house in Toronto. But through perseverance he became a star and eventually a serial entrepreneur and mogul.

As he says throughout “started from the bottom now we’re here”. This message can be applied for any would be entrepreneur looking to be successful.

Look how far you have already come. You started from nothing and made a business. If you are ever feeling despondent, just remember what you did to get to where you are. Wise lessons from Toronto's finest.

Frank Sinatra - I did it my way

As the old adage goes, save the best till last, and we have certainly done that here.

Let’s be honest, not many people - past or present - can hold a candle to our beloved Frank. This is one of the most famous songs - probably ever. And there is a good reason for this: it’s absolutely wonderful.

But more than just being iconic, it’s fantastically uplifting and teaches so many lessons that can be applied for entrepreneurs.

Although it does not refer to it directly, so much of what he says can be applied to businesses. Running your own venture, and making it a success, is all about taking control of your destiny.

Yes, you might make  some mistakes along the way. You may may well bite off more than you can chew, but that’s the beauty of being an entrepreneur. You will learn, improve, and more importantly, do it your way.
